Bejeweled Shoulders

Growing up in California and especially in L.A., denim has always been a staple in my wardrobe. Even though I adore dresses, there’s something so cool about a dressed up denim look. I tend to stick to dark plain denim in flattering skinny or flared cuts. Paired with a nice T-shirt or blouse, heels and a leather jacket and I feel like I can go to almost any restaurant or bar without being over or under dressed.

This lightweight knit top caught my eye with its unusual texture and color and bedazzled shoulders. I have worn it constantly since I got it in New York a few weeks ago. May actually be time to put it in a short-term retirement…

On a completely different note, my thoughts are with those effected by the horrifying tragedy in Boston yesterday. It was a sobering, scary and immensely sad day. It’s time’s like these when support of any kind is needed most. Here is information about how you can help victims and their families.

Jeans: Banana Republic, rhinestone top: H&M, wedges: Marni, belt: Asos, clutch: American Apparel.

Beauty note: eyelashes c/o Boudoir. I finally gave in to trying semi permanent fake eyelashes and I’m happy I did. They are amazing particularly for a special event (perfect for someone who is getting married). I have a discount for readers in the L.A. area if interested.

Desert Mod

Last week, my boyfriend and I went on our annual Palm Springs trip to watch some professional tennis, hike, eat Mexican food and visit The Living Desert (an animal reserve). We spent plenty of time in our hotel’s hot tub, while taking in beautiful desert mountain views and clear blue skies. It was refreshing to get out of the city and away from our apartment for a few days.

I was attracted to the mod-inspired, geometric print of this dress and its easy, versatile style. I can dress it up or down. With sneakers, the dress was comfortable for a full day spent exploring the animal reserve. I wore it later with dressy platform wedges for dinner. The dress felt like a perfect fit for our desert resort retreat.

Dress: c/o Banana Republic (from the new Mad Men collection), sneakers: Jack Purcell, bag: Longchamp.

Leopard and Stripes

I spent most of last week in Vancouver for work. It was my second trip there in the last two months and I have  developed a serious crush on the city (the relationship progressed quickly given its similarities to San Francisco where I grew up). While I toyed with the idea of packing up my bags and heading back for good, I was too happy to come home to warm sunny weather. IMG_7549 IMG_7541_2 IMG_7533 IMG_7551

A striped shirt and leopard pumps feel classic, preppy and fun. The shirt is one of my staples as it can be worn many different ways as seen with a sheer skirt here and boyfriend jeans here.  These leopard heels have quickly become a new favorite of mine as they are just as versatile (also worn here).

Striped shirt: Gap, jeans: Cheap Monday, belt: H&M, embellished bag: c/o Juicy Couture, leopard heels: Sam Edelman, leaf bracelet: Banana Republic, rings: Suzanne Felsen (cocktail), Ariel Gordon (knot band).
