Currently Craving: Cool Denim

It has been so hot here in L.A. I’m looking forward to temperatures dropping as we move into October (where did September go?!). When they finally do, I plan to wear variations of cool denim – from casual cutoffs with chunky sweaters to slightly more refined, fitted skinny jeans with tailored blouses. Here are a few street style images from Fashion Week in New York and Paris that are inspiring me now.

Birthday Highlights

Here are a few highlights from my birthday. We had dinner at Xi’an (see delicious looking dessert below), followed by prosecco and cocktails on the roof of Thompson Beverly Hills. The weather was gorgeous, the views just as beautiful and the company was fabulous. Couldn’t have asked for anything more. Glad I have 363 days before the next one!

Party Time Dress

This past weekend I turned another year older. Even though I have a few more twenty-something years to go, my twenties seem to be flying by. I celebrated my birthday with a three day weekend filled with nothing but fun. Saturday night, my friends and I gathered for dinner and drinks at a rooftop bar. I had the best time and feel so lucky to have such great friends.

I found this dress the day of my party. I was actually shopping for something else when I stumbled upon this textured three layer mini dress. I love how it feels flapper-inspired with gold and velvet flecks and lace. I paired it with flapperesque black velvet and gold midi heels and gold accessories.

Layered dress: Cluny, woven cap toe heels: Marc by Marc Jacobs, bag: vintage Chanel, moonstone ring: Suzanne Felsen, bracelets: vintage (large link), Sheila Fajl (thin bangles), Jessica Elliot (gemstone and rope bangles) and old purchased in Italy (black leather and gold), scepter: homemade gift from friend (we always make each other crazy props on birthdays).

Beauty note: I played up the twenties style look with makeup and nails to match. My nails were red c/o Essie Head Mistress, my eye makeup included gold and shimmery olive tones and my cheeks were given a touch of rouge.
