After skipping a real vacation last year (which I’m pretty sure was hazardous to my mental health), we planned early this year and booked a vacation in January for May. Needless to say, the trip has felt so far off for much too long. With just a month left to go until I leave for a week in Hawaii, I can’t stop thinking ocean, summer and sand. Here’s a few things currently inspiring me and holding me over for another few weeks:

A photo from our last trip two years ago. I could not be more excited to sit on a beach watching waves come in with my toes tucked under warm sand. One short week of having an umbrella fanned out overhead, a book in one of my hands and a fruity cocktail in the other is all I want right now.

Another image from the same trip two years ago. Cool evenings spent watching the sun go down over delicious food (in this case an all you can eat luau) were some of my favorite moments last time around.

A dinning area on an ocean dock creates the perfect mix of outdoor/indoor living.

This Marc by Marc Jacobs swimsuit/bodysuit is adorable with its peplum details, colorful bird print and collared halter top. The model’s soft, wispy hair completes the beach-ready look.

An ocean-colored, light, flowy dress is on my list of things to get for the trip. I adore the unexpected color blocking and asymmetrical hemline of this one.

No summer-y day is complete without a cool, frothy drink or ice cream. This watermelon lime sorbet topped with chocolate chips looks as good as it tastes.

A pretty hat, summer white attire and a bare makeup look will be one of my go-to looks in the coming season.

Clearly, I won’t be wearing Chanel couture in the sand/water and I certainly do not have her body, but how gorgeous is this?

I love the idea of these lounge beds in the water at the Long Beach Hotel in Mauritius by Keith Interior Design and Stauch Vorster Architects.

Beautiful, beach-y hair and glowing, tan skin.

More pretty hair, a flower headpiece and a flirty dress for frolicking on the beach.

Gorgeous photo of a wave coming up the sand.

Dream house. It does not get any better than this Maui home by architects Arthur Erickson and Nick Milkovich featuring an infinity pool made to look like it stretches into the ocean.
Beach deck: Coastal Living (I believe, please correct me if you know otherwise!), Marc by Marc Jacobs swimsuit $182, hi lo color block dress $42, watermelon lime sorbet, hat $198, Chanel on beach, water beds, beach-y ponytail, black dress, sand and water: sundayinbed.tumblr, Maui home.
Do you have any vacations planned this year? Even the short trips seem to keep my brain from turning to mush.

I am so in need of a beach vacation! I hope you guys have a super amazing time. =)
Thank you both. I can’t wait! Jessie, you have to go! It is such a beautiful and relaxing place. xx
Now you have ME daydreaming, too! I’ve never been to Hawaii, but have always wanted to go – I’m sure you’ll have such an amazing time!
