Grammy Awards Five Best Dressed

The Grammy’s red carpet was lacking in excitement last night. There were plenty of gimmicky costumes and “worst dressed / what were they thinking” looks, but not many show-stopping gowns. Slinky black dresses, sabrina necklines, thigh-high slits and gold hardware accessories ruled the carpet. Here were my favorites:

Adele stunned in Giorgio Armani. The dress was so elegant and flattering, and her hair and makeup were flawless too.

Carrie Underwood looked beautiful (as always) in Gomez-Gracia.

Rihanna sizzled on the red carpet in a sexy Giogio Armani dress with low v-neck and high slit. It was perfectly accessorized with chunky gold jewelry and a clutch, along with pointy ankle strap shoes.

Kate Perry was lovely in blue Elie Saab. Her matching hair along with the dress’ curve-hugging fit, low back and train made a statement.

Model Lily Aldridge (married to Caleb Followill of Kings of Leon) showed off her baby bump in a flowing, floral Gucci gown.

Runner up:

Fergie was the most daring non-costume look of the night in Jean Paul Gaultier. She pulled off the bold choice well, but I wished it was accessorized differently. Also, the color combo was a little Haloween-y, undergarments in the same neon orange or even gold would have been better. Still a beautiful dress, great color and flawless fit.

Honorable mention:

Taylor Swift wore a pretty Zuhair Murad gown that fit her perfectly, but it looked too old for her between the high neck, boring color and never-ending intricate details. Her slicked back bun and little heart earrings did not help. I wish she would have worn something fresh and young with color, given that she is one of the youngest stars on the carpet.
